Job Description:
What this job involves - The Industrial Electrician will working
a rotating shift schedule or day schedule as required, to do a
general range of power plant electrical systems and equipment
installation, repair and overhaul.What is the day to day?
- Electrical equipment includes items such as generators, voltage
regulator, buses, transformers, circuit breakers, switches, power
circuits, motors, motor starters, precipitators batteries, plant
lighting, conduit, wiring, boxes, supports, and hangers.
- Perform general industrial electrician duties (installation,
maintenance, and service of electrical systems), with strong
emphasis on running and landing wires, building panels, new startup
check outs, running and bending conduit, and mounting wire
raceways.
- Maintain devices that provide power to and controls for the
plant distribution, machines, equipment, and other gear.
- Install, connect, test, and maintain electrical control and
instrumentation systems for a variety of purposes, including
utilities, climate control, security, and communications.
- Inspect equipment, locate, and correct problems before
breakdowns occur; use preventative and corrective maintenance
techniques to diagnose, isolate, and repair electrical. Electrical
problems throughout the facilities (may include repair of motors,
transformers, generators, process, and PLC controllers on utilities
or HVAC equipment).
- Work with blueprints, schematics, drawings, service manuals,
and follow the National Electrical Code, state, federal and local
building, and electrical codes.
- Recognize voltages at primary and secondary levels, exercises
proper care safety precautions when working with all voltages.
- Prepare reports of work done accompanied by sketches, if
necessary.
- Comply with departmental policy for the safe storage, usage,
and disposal of hazardous materials. Maintains a clean and safe
workplace.Desired experience and technical skillsRequired
- High School Diploma or GED
- Completion of certified apprentice program
- Strong Emphasis on MV Switchgear Maintenance and Operation
- Understanding of Utility Feeder Transfer Schemes and
Operation
- Ten years of working as an industrial electrician
- Successfully completed accredited trade school
- Advanced level of safety, health and environmental
rules/regulations, policies, and proceduresPreferred
- Familiarity with GXP environment/regulations
