ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY In this new role reporting to Cambridge---s Supply Chain Manager, you will help position the organization for future growth by anticipating, managing, and securing both the durable goods and industrial controls required for day-to-day manufacturing projects. You will work with a wide range of suppliers to proactively build positive relationships and to improve best practices in supplier management. YOUR MISSION AS SENIOR BUYER At Cambridge, you will have an opportunity to revolutionize indoor air solutions to improve the lives and health of hard-working individuals within manufacturing and distribution environments. Reporting to our Supply Chain Manager and in close collaboration with our inventory management, engineering, logistics, and manufacturing operations teams, you will work strategically to secure resources for both custom and standard HVAC product lines, ensuring success in the full end-to-end supply chain function. SOURCE & PURCHASE KEY MATERIALS - You will oversee annual procurement and contract negotiations for all materials that support Cambridge---s standard and custom product lines, including but not limited to sheet metal, gas valves, blower wheels, pipe, electrical components, fasteners, and paint. Partner with engineering and manufacturing teams to source materials, and communicate any anticipated shortages. MANAGE SUPPLIERS & BUILD EFFECTIVE RELATIONSHIPS - You will develop and maintain relationships with new and existing vendors with a collaborative, transparent, long-term approach. Lead negotiations in a manner consistent with Cambridge---s core values, yielding win-win partnerships. Develop supplier management tools, including criteria and core metrics for vendor selection, management, assessment, and retention. Introduce best practice to facilitate use of supplier scorecards and ensure accountability. DRIVE BEST PRACTICES IN PURCHASING & CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT- This role offers the opportunity to establish sustainable, scalable best practices in sourcing and purchasing that will support a growing organization. In step with one of the organization---s core values, you will drive continuous improvement efforts to optimize sourcing processes, promote efficiency, and facilitate effective contract negotiations. SERVE AS A TEAM LEAD & COLLABORATE WITH INTERNAL STAKEHOLDERS - Serve as a subject matter expert and ---player coach--- for a small yet mighty purchasing team of buyers, while collaborating with your counterparts in inventory management, logistics, engineering, and manufacturing. Represent the purchasing team in cross-functional meetings to identify needs, strategically anticipate lead times, and address gaps. IS THIS A MATCH FOR YOU? PURCHASING EXPERTISE --- You offer 5-10 years of progressive purchasing experience, including experience buying raw materials for a manufacturing environment. You have a background in managing vendor relationships, establishing contract terms, sourcing and vetting suppliers, and more. Experience developing supplier scorecards preferred, but not required. COMMUNICATION & CONFIDENTIALITY --- You have developed exceptional communication skills and you build relationships with confidence as a trusted and confidential partner to the vendor, customer, and internal stakeholders. You communicate transparently and frequently and with compassion, and you have a genuine, relational approach to vendor management. PROJECT MANAGEMENT --- You have superior organization and project management skills with an ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously. Serving as both player and coach is a natural leadership style for you. CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT MINDSET --- You are energized by the opportunity to improve processes and systems, building out best practices to increase efficiency and optimize procedures. TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES --- You bring solid tech skills including ERP experience with Epicor, SAP, Info, Netsuite, Oracle, Sage, or similar. You offer technical skills including MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS --- You have a 4-year degree in a related field. WHY JOIN US?
