At West County Ophthalmology we are looking for an Optician to join our growing team! Our team works very closely together, so ability to work well with others, eagerness to learn and a focus on patient care is key.Little to no experience? In addition to a rewarding career, we offer a comprehensive wellness package that includes exciting benefits such as:Competitive market payExcellent health insurance benefitsGenerous 401k matching program, 100% vested on day 1Paid time offPaid holidaysFree counseling and support servicesEmployee Perk PackageSome of the duties for this position include, but are not limited to:Answers all questions correctly and effectively that are related to optical issuesGreets all patients in a warm and friendly mannerProvides routine cleaning and adjustment services for patients entering the practiceEducates and assists with the selection of eyewear that is available in the optical departmentOrders jobs from labs according to practice protocolsChecks in and documents all incoming jobs orders correctlyNotifies the patient in a timely manner when their order is ready to be dispensedCompletes all necessary paperwork efficiently and accurately to document sales and patient activitiesEnsures the highest level of customer service and patient satisfactionProvides input on how to improve customer service, decrease costs and increase revenues for the optical departmentSupports the practice core values and mission statement to develop, enhance and promote quality customer service through team effortExhibits flexibility, sensitivity, and respect while maintaining an effective working relationship with all team membersMaintains practice confidentiality follows HIPAA guidelines, and follows the rules and regulations of the practice as documented in the practice employee manualOther work duties as assignedRequirementsEducation and Experience:High school diploma or GED requiredCurrent optician license requiredTwo years of experience as an optician in a busy practice preferred, but not requiredESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIESStrong hospitality skills and patient care focusBe proficient with computer skillsHave the ability to problem solveDetailed orientedHave a working knowledge of post-operative Medicare, Medicare Replacement, and Medicaid plansHave excellent communication skills, proper grammar, and writing capabilityBe a team playerSelf-directed, highly motivated, able to multi-task, and work under pressure in a fast-paced environmentAble to accurately and efficiently handle multiple projects at one timeHave exceptional interpersonal skillsPossess a caring, patient, and friendly attitudeBe familiar with all forms associated with the patients medical record (paper / electronic)Be familiar with the use and operation of optical softwareBe knowledgeable with lenses, frames, and all-optical suppliesHave a complete understanding of optical inventoryHave outstanding sales abilityHave a wide-ranging knowledge applicable to eye care and current trends in eyewearAble to be proactive and deal with conflict resolutionIf you are seeking new adventures in patient care and have a passion for going above and beyond to ensure all our patients are given the best patient experience, then we want to hear from you...
