Research & Development Specialist I


The primary responsibilities of this role, Research & Development Specialist I, are to:

  • Deliver daily/weekly targets;
  • Have primary or shared responsibility for high throughput sterile lab;
  • Be accountable for cross-functional work in multiple process areas;
  • Solve problems of routine scope;
  • Optimize workflows;
  • Validate methods using multiple data sources;
  • Use specialized scientific techniques to conduct experiments and implement process improvements;
  • Adhere to established protocols and techniques;
  • Solve problems with others using multiple data sources;
  • Prioritize and coordinate work within a large team and provides training to contingent workforce;
  • Maintain detailed record keeping and required documentation;
  • Achieve commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols and best practices;
  • Perform a variety of experiments with accuracy; demonstrates knowledge of specialized laboratory and scientific techniques;
  • Be able to prepare, communicate and interpret results of complex experiments, production Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and lab related issues to partners and key stakeholders;
  • Be skilled in organizing and reporting based on specialized reports, including analyzing and interpreting the results of experiments, production KPIs, cost/benefit analysis, and lab related issues to partners and key stakeholders;
  • Thrive on meeting challenges, insist on high quality deliverables, demonstrate effective problem solving skills;
  • Have proven initiative in some categories of accomplishments, either individually or as part of a group and show initiative in keeping abreast of literature in field of interest.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Non degreed with 8 years relevant experience, or Bachelor of Science with minimal experience in academia or industry;
    • Strong understanding of basic laboratory techniques and experimental design;
    • Specialized laboratory experience with the mechanical aptitude for operating and troubleshooting automation;
    • Proficiency with data analysis and visualization software;
    • Possess agility and adaptability to keep up with changing company priorities and balance multiple projects simultaneously.
