Boeing's Missile and Weapons Safety organization is currently looking for a Missile and Weapons Systems Experienced Safety Engineer to join our team in Saint Charles, MO or Huntsville, AL. - With a mission to establish a safety engineering function across the company and develop enduring safety design practices to assure the safety, quality, integrity, and mission success of our products and services.

The selected candidate will be a core member of a fast paced, productive, close-knit and geographically diverse safety team. Responsibilities will include working alongside systems, design, and project engineers to develop, integrate, and support implementation of capabilities that ensure robust execution of product/system safety analyses and best practices across the enterprise. This includes benchmarking, developing and implementing model based tools and approaches to safety engineering, data analytics, and seeking out best practices within Boeing and throughout the industry. This is a unique and exciting opportunity to work alongside an experienced team of system safety professionals and grow your knowledge of Boeing defense and space platforms

Position Responsibilities:
Evaluate customer/operational needs and requirements specifications to develop safety requirements, constraints, and operating limits
Develop System Safety Program Plans (SSPP), as required
Perform a variety of hazard analyses across the full product life cycle, to include Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA), Subsystem Hazard Analysis (SSHA), System Hazard Analysis (SHA), Operating and Support Hazard Analysis (O&SHA), Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA), and Software Safety Hazard Analysis, Fault Tree Analysis
Review engineering design specifications, test and manufacturing operations, change proposals, deficiency reports, and deviation/waiver requests for potential safety impacts
Lead/Participate in incident investigations and root cause/corrective action analyses
Interface with customer and program subject matter experts
Prepare presentations, analyses, and reports for government/customer safety boards, program design reviews, and test/mission readiness reviews
Develop proposals, work statements, and specifications affecting system safety engineering scope and budget
Deliver oral and written system safety and risk presentations to peers, program management, senior leadership, customer, and regulatory agencies -
Demonstrate the ability to communicate well and work within a team environment with a focus on first time quality
Proficient in default Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project)

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic -Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
5+ years of Systems Safety, Systems Engineering, and/or Product Design experience

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Active US Secret Clearance or higher
Experience leading Space, NASA, and/or Department of Defense (DoD) team projects such as; trade studies, design work, or safety analysis

Typical Education & Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.


This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.
