The Nurse Clinical Educator, Mercy Virtual Education will assume the responsibility for all activities related to coordination, planning, implementation, and evaluation of educational and competency programs to virtual patient care staff. Collaborate with TDO and other content experts/educators to provide educational opportunities and improve staff competence. They will support training strategies by actively serving on development team and communicating strategy with the facility served and is responsible for the development and management of all phases of a project from concept to execution. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards. Determines and revises priorities for scheduled and unscheduled educational activities Partners with staff and leadership to develop and teach an education plan to address knowledge deficits Develops needed unit-based and system-wide performance improvement education Participates in root cause analysis to identify and respond to learning deficits. Seek feedback regarding efficiency and effectiveness in delivery of educational programs/activities Utilize adult teaching strategies during presentations Takes initiative in needs assessment and creates and implements educational activities based on need and organizational initiatives. Utilizes subject matter experts in education development Conduct annual needs assessment and facilitate an education plan to meet the identified development needs. Identify internal and external education resources available to staff Identify opportunities for staff to increase knowledge and skills. Participate in the process of obtaining continuing education credits for educational programs Maintain required education documentation and record keeping system Ensure that educational programs are congruent with Mercy mission and strategic initiatives Maintain and utilize current knowledge of regulatory standards and requirements for educational programs. Maintain proficiency in Mercy's learning management system Plans and executes training initiatives and projects with minimal supervision, blending sound and current internal and external best practice research, adult learning techniques, creativity, and the mission, vision, and values of the Sisters of Mercy. Uses a variety of teaching/learning strategies in delivery of education aligned with the diverse styles, literacy levels, and cultural and learning style of assigned learners Apply various adult learning principals during development and delivery of courses. Operate as an internal consultant by employing basic or strong organizational development consulting skills Complete and share evaluation/measurement reports to show effectiveness of training programs Obtain/maintain Mercy facilitation certification as well as other designated instructor certifications (i.e. individual program certification) Competency Management: Identify opportunities for staff to increase/improve skills, knowledge, and behavior Function as a clinical resource to co-workers. Coordinate an initial and ongoing competency plan to assess and evaluate performance. Maintain proficiency in facilitating mock events and simulation methodology. Steward appropriate use and inventory of educational supplies. Function as a super user for new equipment and supplies. Maintain proficiency in caring for unit specific patient populations. Research Support and/or participate in internal and external research activities. Integrate evidenced based practice intro educational programs and clinical competencies. Analyze current systems and implement practice based evidence. Promote and encourage research and scholarship. Collaborative Partnership: Network with others to achieve desired outcomes (e.g., other facilities, departments, experts, physicians, etc.). Partner with management in scheduling clinical students. Role Development: Provide honest feedback and positive reinforcement in a timely fashion. Seek opportunities to act as a mentor and role model to positively influence others and promote a culture of excellence and safety. Utilize constructive problem solving techniques to promote change and address challenges. Follow established channels for addressing issues, concerns and problems. Create and maintain an environment wherein professional and personal growth is an expectation. In collaboration with leader, develop goals for projects they are leading. Serves as a backup to primary orientation educator Qualifications: Because you're committed to excellence, you understand the importance of being properly prepared for your role at Mercy. That's why you'll bring to your role the right set of qualifications: Bachelor of Science in Nursing or Masters in Healthcare related field or actively enrolled in an accredited program. Master's degree preferred. Must have 3 years of active bedside experience or equivalent experience Solid PC skills including usage of the full MS Office Suite is required.
