Job Description:

*$5000 SIGN ON BONUS AVAILABLE FOR NURSES WITH A MINIMUM OF 2 YEARS OF RNFA EXPERIENCE IN THE OR REQUIRED; CVOR EXPERIENCE PREFERRED * (Experience must be in the last 5 years) Description Performs the primary function of a Registered Professional Nurse is assessing, planning, implementing, educating and evaluating a designated group of patients during the perioperative period in accordance with all established Nursing Standards and Hospital Policies. Responsible for managing all assigned supplies and equipment on the unit. Responsible for promoting teamwork with all members of the healthcare team. Performs duties in a manner consistent with St. Luke's Hospital mission and values. Principle Accountabilities: % of Time Spent Performs pre-operative patient assessment (5%) Assists in coordinating all aspects of patient care following the Nursing process using age specific knowledge relevant to the patient served (20%) Assists the surgeon intraoperatively by maintaining a sterile field, and in performing safely RNFA tasks as outlined (50%) Documents all aspects of patient care (3%) Plans/participates in patient discharge from the Operating Room (5%) Participates in checking/maintaining supplies and equipment, and the physical environment (5%) Participates in committees, educational activities, and special projects (5%) Supervises other team members in delivery of patient care (3%) Performs clerical/computer tasks (exclusive from the Perioperative Record) (2%) Performs all other duties as assigned (2%) TOTAL 100% Education Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Missouri Required. Nursing Diploma or Associates in Nursing Required. BSN or completion of BSN within 5 years of hire date is required. Experience RNFA experience for 2 years is required with CVOR experience preferred. Working Conditions Employee is required to sit occasionally, stand continuously, and walk frequently. Employee must lift/carry light (20-lb maximum), medium (50-lb maximum) loads frequently, and over 100-lb loads occasionally with assistance. Employee is required to bend, squat, climb, reach forward and reach overhead frequently; kneel, lift from floor to waist and lift to overhead occasionally. Employee is required to perform duties involving repetitive action, and is required to use both hands for simple grasping, pushing/pulling and fine manipulation frequently. Employee is occasionally exposed to the following environmental conditions: fumes, radiation, electrical hazard, and CRT terminal work. Employee is frequently exposed to blood-borne pathogens. Employee may be needed to work any shift due to 24-hour day, 7 days per week operation, and may be needed to work in other areas of Surgical Services as necessary. (Occasionally = 1-33%, Frequently = 34-66%, Continuously = 67-100%) The most significant of duties are included but this does not exclude occasional work assignments not mentioned, or developmental duties.
