Job Description:
Job Title: Stepdown/PCU RN Profession: Registered Nurse
Specialty: IMC Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night 4x12-Hour Hours per
Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year required License: Must have
active IL license to apply Certifications: BLS and NIH required;
ACLS preferred Must-Have: Telemetry, Neuro Stepdown,
PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown experience. Cardiac monitoring and emergency
response skills. Experience in interpreting and managing
dysrhythmias. Telemetry monitoring on the unit. Experience with
Rapid Response Teams. Post Cardiac Angiogram, Post MI, Pre/Post
Cardiac Catheterization, and Pre/Post Cardiac Surgery experience.
Sheath removal and TR Band experience. Feeding tube care and
management experience. Pre/Post Hemodialysis management; renal
failure experience. IV therapy and phlebotomy skills; accessing
ports, arterial line management, blood product administration.
Central line care/management, phlebotomy, peripheral line
care/management, PICC line management, starting IVs. Management of
Heparin protocols, cardiac drips (no titration), vasoactive drips
(no titration), PCA administration, procedural sedation. Titrating
cardiac and vasoactive drips. Experience with craniotomy, CVA,
pre/post neurosurgery, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury.
Orthopedic trauma and total joint replacement experience.
Experience with skin grafts and surgical drains. Care of ventilated
patients, management of chest tubes and CPAP/BIPAP. Interpretation
of ABGs and nasal cannula use. Knowledge of isolation precautions
and wound care. Description: The position requires a stepdown/PCU
RN to work night shifts. Candidates should demonstrate the ability
to care for patients in an acute care setting. The role involves
providing telemetry monitoring and managing emergency situations.
The RN will float as needed within the facility to meet patient
care needs. Candidates should be prepared to work every other
weekend. First-timers will not be accepted for this position.
Candidates are expected to have a strong understanding of cardiac,
gastrointestinal, genitourinary/renal, medication management,
neurological, respiratory, orthopedic, and plastic surgery skills.
Isolation precautions and wound care knowledge are essential.
