Additional Information About the Role - 4 (10hr) shifts per weeks - 7am-5pm - Great medical benefits - 401(k) and Pension Plan The BJH Surgical and Wound Care Center (SWCC) is a part of the nationally recognized BJC HealthCare Organization and located at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. SWCC provides acute and chronic wound and ostomy care, pre-surgical ssessment, post-surgical follow-up including bedside debridements, biopsies, advanced wound care, application of skin substitutes, and ordering diagnostic testing as needed. The SWCC works closely with Vascular, Podiatry, Plastic Surgery, Orthopedics, Ortho foot/ankle, Colorectal, Oncology/Oncology surgery, Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, along with multiple other services. The center is staffed with Advanced Practice Nurses who have a collaborative practice agreement with the Acute and Critical Care Services (general and trauma surgeons). SWCC provides excellent, compassionate care to individuals consistent with their complex wound/ostomy needs. Overview Preferred Qualifications Role Purpose The Nurse Practitioner is an advanced practice nurse who utilizes a high degree of knowledge, skill and competence in a specialized patient care area. This position assesses, diagnose, prescribes, initiates plan of care and evaluates outcomes within the scope of a formal collaborative practice agreement with physician(s). Responsibilities - Participates in professional development - Manages the health care of patient populations with compassion through advanced health assessment, diagnosis, intervention, and evaluation in a collaborative practice agreement with a physician. Prescriptive responsibilities are reviewed by collaborative physician. - Coordinates the care of patient populations, in a collaborative practice agreement with a physician, to ensure promotion of health and wellness through education of patients and families, coordination of services and placing referrals. - Assesses development needs of staff and develops and delivers appropriate educational programs to meet staff needs. - Develops treatment plans, treats patients with acute problems including illnesses and minor injuries following a predetermined protocol in a collaborative practice agreement with a physician.
