University has both full time and adjunct faculty members.GENERAL
JOB DESCRIPTION: The Dean of the College of Health Sciences leads,
and is the chief academic officer for all programs offered by the
College. The Dean ensures that existing and new program content and
delivery are of consistently high quality, reviews curriculum and
establishes/assesses student learning outcomes, facilitates the
sharing of best practices between campus faculty, and balances
local campus interests with program imperatives and the needs of
the discipline. The Dean assures that Logan Universitys Mission,
Vision and Values are central in carrying out the duties and
responsibilities of this position.The Dean reports to the Vice
President for Academic Affairs and works closely with other senior
academic affairs leaders, strategic performance, academic
technology, and faculty to establish a clear vision and strategy
for curriculum design, development, and delivery. Develops and
implements strategies that are scalable and financially sustainable
while growing both online, hybrid, and campus based programs.
Oversees the day-to-day operations of program development, distance
learning modules, courses, and programs.RESPONSIBILITIESConsistent
with the mission, vision, and values (MVV) of the institution this
position:MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESUses the Baldrige
framework as the operational model for leadership, strategy, data
collection and analysis, student and workforce engagement,
satisfaction, and success, operations, and use of results to
identify the strengths and opportunities for improvement of the
positions areas of responsibility; andArticulate and implement a
vision/plan for strategic college and programmatic
development/expansion in support of Logan Universitys Strategic
Plan.Assure that faculty possess appropriate credentials, develop
professionally, contribute to campus and college academic
operations, and share and use best practices.In partnership with
the Office of Strategic Performance and Continuous Improvement,
develop robust conceptual frameworks, student learning outcomes,
and direct and indirect measures to assess and improve the quality
of all programs.Coordinate the planning and implementation of
innovative system wide program initiatives.Lead regular reviews of
curriculum and program effectiveness.Develop curricula for new
programs.Work productively with, and serve as an advisor, mentor
and coach, to department chairs/program directors, subject matter
experts, and curriculum developers.Working with the Office olf
Strategic Performance and Continuous Improvement, report as
required on status of program quality and the effectiveness of the
College, including the achievement of outcomes, student retention,
curriculum currency and rigor, faculty performance and credentials,
and adequacy of academic support services.Approve and endorse
Program Director/Chair appointments and set credentialing standards
for faculty. Manage effective performance review of Program
Directors. Actively work in partnership with the Office of
Strategic Performance and Continuous Improvement to maintain
specialized accreditation of the Colleges programs.Ensure that all
College faculty are reviewed consistent with the Faculty Handbooks
policies.Develop curricular and policy revisions as needed.Assist
in the textbook selection process for courses within the
College.Prepare the annual budget for the Colleges and monitor
monthly expenditures.Ensure that program directors conduct advisory
committee meetings and engage the professional and business
community as the voice and face of the Colleges of Health Sciences.
Ensure that each program director and full-time faculty member is
active in the community as well. Adhere to university policies as
described in the Faculty Handbook, job description, or other
separate guidelines.Partner with University Marketing and
Admissions leadership to guide enrollment growth of all Business
and Arts and Sciences programs.MINOR DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIESServe the Colleges and University on Committees as
directed by the Vice President for Academic AffairsCollaborates
with the Office of Academic Technology to foster an institutional
wide standardization, utilization and training process for LMS
users consistent with the institutions educational philosophy,
current best practices and strategic priorities related to
teaching, learning, and assessment; andOversee any participation in
course sharing consortium's; andOversee the curriculum committee
process and procedures and meets at least monthly with the
curriculum committee chair; andIs a voting member of the program
effectiveness and review committee; andParticipates in the
presentation and publication of scholarly work related to this
position; andAll other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATION FOR THE
JOBEDUCATIONDoctorate or terminal degree in leadership, a health
professions discipline, or education.For candidates that do not
have a doctorate in education, preference will be given to those
with a doctorate in another field and a minimum of a higher
education certificate in curriculum and instruction or equivalent
experience.EXPERIENCEAt least fifteen years of experience in
academic innovation related to design or delivery, and distance
learning; and a minimum of ten years of supervisory experience;
andPreference given to experience with continuous improvement
frameworks like Six Sigma or Baldrige.Demonstrated ability to work
independently and with teams; andexperience coaching individuals
and teams to work independently and effectively; and experience
