Description
Performs the primary functions of a Registered Professional Nurse
caring for patients undergoing procedures in the Cardiac
Catheterization Laboratory. Is responsible for adhering to all
established Nursing Standards and Hospital Policies. Is accountable
for managing all assigned personnel, supplies and equipment in the
Lab and for promoting team work with physicians and personnel of
other departments. Displays maturity, flexibility, organizational
and communication skills in dealing with other people. Maintains
patient rights and confidentiality of patient information. Performs
duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission
and values.

Performs initial patient assessment.

Collects and documents admission history prior to the
procedure.

Plans/participates in patient's pre-procedure education

Coordinates all aspects of patient care following the Nursing
Process using age specific knowledge relevant to the patient
served.

Assures all orders are processed /carried out in a timely
manner.

Documents all aspects of patient care.

Plans/participates in patient discharge from the department.

Participates in checking/maintaining equipment/supplies and the
physical environment.

Supervises other team members in care delivery.

Education
Nursing Degree Required
License - Certification - Registration (Text Only)
Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Missouri
Required.
Experience
The assessment, care and treatment provided by the Registered Nurse
will be consistent with the specific age related needs of the
patient. The Registered Nurse is competent to care for patient age
groups including the adult and geriatric patient.Current
certification in Basic Life SupportAdvanced Cardiac Life Support
Certification must be obtained within one year of transfer/hireAll
registered nurses will acquire a minimum of 8 ACS hours/calendar
yearMust take rotational call with response time of thirty
minute
Reporting Relationships (Text Only)
Job Relationships: Member of a comprehensive healthcare team,
including other health care providers, the patient's family and
significant others. Takes direction from: Nurse Manager, Assistant
Nurse Manager Provides direction to: PCT Supervised by: Manager
Working Conditions
Employee is required to sit occasionally, walk frequently and stand
frequently. Employee must lift/carry a light (1-20 lbs.)and medium
(21-50 lbs.) load frequently. Employee may be required to lift over
100 lbs. with assistance. Employee is frequently required to bend,
squat, kneel, climb, and lift waist to overhead. Employee is
occasionally required to reach forward and reach overhead. For
repetitive action, employee is required to perform simple grasping
and pushing/pulling. Employee is occasionally exposed to electrical
hazards and CRT terminal work. Employee is frequently exposed to
radiation and required to wear a lead apron (@12lbs) while standing
for long periods of time during procedures. Employee is frequently
exposed to body fluids.

The most significant of duties are included but this does not
exclude occasional work assignments not mentioned or developmental
duties.
