Description
Performs the primary function of a Registered Professional Nurse in
assessing, planning, implementing, educating and evaluating a
designated group of patients in accordance with all established
Nursing Standards and Hospital Policies. Is responsible for
managing all assigned personal supplies, and equipment on the unit
and for promoting teamwork with all members of the healthcare team.
Performs duties in a manner consistent with our mission and

Principle Accountabilities: % Of Time Spent
Assists the physician with highly technical endoscopic procedures,
including IV moderate sedation. (30%) Assesses, prepares and
recovers the patient having an endoscopic procedure following the
Nursing Process and using age specific knowledge relevant to the
patient served. (25%) Prepares equipment for procedures, disinfects
equipment, identifies supply and repair needs. (10%) Documents
continuous patient assessment and reports changes in patient
condition. (10%) Trains and precepts new employees and students,
etc. and participates in staff meetings, educational activities for
total quality improvement. (5%) Collaborates in the planning and
evaluation of patient. (5%) Plans/participates in Patient discharge
from the Unit. (5%) Participates in checking/maintaining
equipment/supplies and the physical environment. (3%) Committee
participation/Educational Activities/Special Projects. (3%)
Performs clerical/computer tasks. (2%) All other duties as
assigned. (2%)

Education
Nursing Degree Required
License - Certification - Registration (Text Only)
Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Missouri
Required.
Experience
Must live 30 minutes from hospital for call.
GI or OR experience preferred.
BLS upon hire. The patient care provided will be consistent with
the specific age related needs of the patient. Nursing Units may
provide care to neonates/infants, children, adolescents, adults and
geriatric adults.
Working Conditions
Employee is required to sit occasionally, stand continuously and
walk frequently. Employee must lift/carry a light (20# max), medium
(50# max) loads frequently and over 100# occasionally with
assistance. Employee is required to bend, squat, climb, reach
forward and reach overhead frequently. The employee is also
required to kneel and lift from floor to waist and lift waist to
overhead occasionally. For repetitive action, employee is required
to use both hands for simple grasping, pushing/pulling and fine
manipulation. Employee is occasionally exposed to the following
environmental conditions: fumes, radiation, electrical hazard and
CRT terminal work. Employee is frequently exposed to blood borne
pathogens. May be required to work in other areas of the Surgical
Services Department. Will need to take call. (Occasionally: 1-33%,
Frequently: 34-66%, Continuously: 67-100%) The most significant of
duties are included but this does not exclude occasional work
assignments not mentioned or developmental duties.
Job Relationships: Member of a comprehensive healthcare team,
including other healthcare providers, the patient's family and
significant others.
