VP, Closing Team Lead

Job Description:

Responsible for leading a geographically dispersed team of highly skilled, highly motived staff while managing the day-to-day workflow, conducting agricultural loan closings and all loan servicing actions consistent with approval conditions and company policy delivering a high quality product and excellent customer service. Responsible for the overall supervision of the assigned department team(s) including performance reviews, salary recommendations, and compliance oversight. Assures closed loan files are in compliance with legal documentation requirements and approved loan terms. Responsible for consistent execution of process and procedures regarding the overall closing process and on-going life of loan processes. The TL will work together with the Closing Manager to evaluate the status of deals and re-prioritizing workload, as needed, to meet customer expectations. Sets and monitors the SLAs of the Closers and RSS/RSMs to deliver all necessary documentation in a timely manner, including ensuring the accuracy of such information. The TL is primarily a manager. The TL focuses on setting and meeting expectations and manages to the set process, recruiting talent and managing staff, including mentoring of Closers and RSM/RSSs. In depth knowledge of both general closing requirements and RAF processes is required. General knowledge of the agricultural industry is necessary. A detailed understanding of RAF's products, policies and procedures along with the ability to identify risks and solutions to provide client value are essential. Your Function Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities: Assigns work and monitors workflow of direct reports to ensure functions are performed timely, with excellent customer service as the key driver regards decisions and priorities. Assists staff in completing tasks as needed. Manages staff to perform all functions related to loan origination and ongoing life of loan processes. Works and prioritizes workflow with the MD - Closing Manager to ensure capacity is optimally utilized nationwide between the different Territories and the pre-close audit team. Works closely with the Financial Analyst Manager and Business Development Manager to ensure customer expectations for closing, reviews, renewals, and changes are met. Maintains close communication with Credit, Appraisal, Legal, Analyst and Business Development teams. Identify needs for training of Closers and RSS/RSM's assigned to team. Responsible to ensure team receives training in all aspects of a Closer or a RSS/RSM position. Makes recommendation of special advanced training for specific Closers and RSMs and RSSs. Coaches, trains, and supervises the training of new hires and existing Closing staff. Supports, or coordinates (Continuous Improvement) nationwide projects necessary to continuously improve internal performance and customer experience. Performs daily monitoring of attendance and leave records for direct reports. Responsible for actively reviewing performance of direct reports based upon objectives, metrics, and applicable SLAs. Communicates directly with internal departments and third parties (Outside Counsel, Title Companies, etc.) as needed to meet all conditions of loan approval and documentation. Reviews work of direct reports to ensure work is completed at a level of excellent quality and in accordance with company policy. Establishes and maintains processes and procedures for closing lending products and services in accordance with company policy, for having loan files reviewed pre-closing to assure documentation accuracy and compliance with loan terms as negotiated, and for life of loan servicing actions. Maintains and improves product quality through involvement with internal/external audits and collaboration with other members of management on quality-related initiatives. Prepares budget input for business plan needs, performs annual departmental personnel review, and provides salary recommendations. Responsible for interviewing departmental hiring prospects. Must be able to manage cross organizational relationships and have completed managing priorities and relationship training course Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before employees of the Bank. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written or oral form. Achieves own goals by managing on process and output Desirable -- Thorough understanding of U.S. and state level laws & regulations regarding securing personal and real property -- Understanding of U.S. banking regulatory environment -- Previous work experience in agricultural loan sales and/or agricultural loan underwriting. Qualifications : Essential: Bachelor's Degree, Master preferred, in Business, Legal or related agricultural field, with 7 or more years preferred commercial or consumer loan processing and documentation and/or legal experience required. Prior understanding of internal operations, policies and procedures preferred at the time of hire. Must possess excellent, people leadership, organizational and time management skills. Must be a self-starter with the interpersonal skills necessary to communicate tactfully with interdepartmental personnel as well as personnel from all areas and departments Computer proficiency with MS Word, Outlook and Excel required. Must possess good human relations and communications skills with the ability to supervise and delegate work flow. Understands how to read and follow legal descriptions Must possess good human relations, communication skills and ability to exercise good judgment and work as a team member Must be able to work well under time constraints Must be organized, detail-oriented and have a strong desire to succeed. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
