Job Description Position Title: Seasonal Pool Manager Department: Parks, Recreation and Arts Immediate Supervisor: Recreation Manager-Aquatics/Recreation Specialist Pay Grade: Seasonal Non-exempt Position Summary: Under direct supervision of the Recreation Manager-Aquatics and the Recreation Specialist. The Pool Manger is responsible for supervising and administering day to day operations, management, activities and programs at the Chesterfield Family Aquatic Center. In order to provide quality aquatics programming and services. Must be available to work: Days, Evenings, Nights, Weekends, Holidays and be on-call Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Provide a safe and sanitary aquatics environment for the public. Oversees and trains part-time Seasonal Headguards and Seasonal Lifeguard Staff Records and organizes accurate records concerning attendance, accident reports pool readings, inventory reports and schedules Responsible for opening and closing of Chesterfield Family Aquatic Center on a daily basis Maintain lifeguard skills at test-ready performance Participate in Lifeguard Audits in house and 3rd party audits Respond to emergency situations maintains knowledge of facility EAP. Handles grievances and/or discipline cases involving pool patrons in a polite and respectful manner and reports serious cases to the Recreation Manager-Aquatics/ Recreation Specialist Handles routine staff disciplinary issues, keeps accurate record of all issues handled. Communicates issues with the Recreation Manager-Aquatics and Recreation Specialists Assist with daily and weekly maintenance and upkeep of the Aquatic environment (This includes but not limited to backwashing, cleaning, maintaining filters, auto filling, chemical feeders and equipment, and vacuuming) Monitor Pool equipment, outside patio, locker rooms, balcony, patrons and staff in order to maintain a safe aquatic environment Assist with planning pool schedules, aquatic programming, swim meets and special events Responsible for planning and teaching in-service topics and keeping entire staff lifeguarding skills at test ready performance Enforces all aquatics facility rules, policies and procedures, making sure the rest of the staff enforces those rules as well Instruct and assist all group swim lesson programs when needed. Also, provides swim lesson training when needed. Exhibits a professional image, behavior, appearance and demeanor at all times Maintains required certifications, seeks advanced training Assist in seasonal opening and closing of Chesterfield Family Aquatic Center Must be self-motivated Maintains positive experience for every patron and responds to internal and external requests without a delay Works well with others, creates a teamwork atmosphere for fellow co-workers, and treats all individuals with dignity and respect On-time for all scheduled shifts and cover for other staff when needed

  • Performs other duties as directed Knowledge and Skills
    Thorough knowledge and application in the areas of the pool sanitation, water chemistry and filtration Leaderships abilities, be able to command the respect of pool staff as well as patrons, and be able to delegate duties when needed Ability to act quickly and effectively in emergency situations Must have effective decision-making skills, public relation skills Must demonstrate effective verbal, written and listening communication skills Time/Stress Management skills Maintain a professional and mature attitude toward responsibilities, fellow staff and patrons. Work effectively with supervisors, co-workers and the public Must have previous experience working in an aquatic setting Previous Management experience preferred Mobility required
  • Able to be a team player and create a team atmosphere for Lifeguards
  • Able to maintain and encourage positive moral of staffDuties require attentiveness to visual and audible cues for recognition and identification of swimmers in distress or in process of un-safe behavior Proficient swimming ability and the proper application of rescue and first-aid techniques Proper uniform required at all times. Must be able to lift at least 25lbs Minimum Qualifications /Skills
  • Must Currently or be able to possess the following certifications (Training is available)
  • Jeff Ellis and Associates Lifeguard License
  • Must be 20 years of age and/or equivalent experience
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED
  • Some college is preferred
  • Aquatic supervisory/management experience preferred
  • Previous experience with Recreational programming preferred
  • Must have effective decision making, customer service and public relation skills
  • Must demonstrate effective verbal, written and listening communication skills
  • Much complete the City Chesterfield Training/Orientation Program Abilities Abilities while performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, kneel, stand, stoop, communicate, reach and manipulate objects. This position requires mobility Duties require attentiveness to visual and audible cues for recognition and identification of swimmers in distress or in process of un-safe behavior. This position requires proficient swimming ability and the proper application of rescue and first-aid techniques. This position requires the ability to properly extract Guests in Distress from anywhere in the aquatic environment, Working conditions- Manual labor is required Extreme weather conditions and working with chemicals are factors in this position.
