your future with us.The Boeing Design-Build Team is looking for a
Mechanical Design Engineer based out of Berkeley, MO. Within Boeing
Test & Evaluation (BT&E), the Mechanical Design Engineer
supports Boeing test requirements by providing support structure
design, lab facility interface design and fabrication/installation
support on test articles as they are adapted and installed for
evaluation in the lab environment.Mechanical design work in support
of testing can vary from adapters and fixtures that join test
articles to test apparatus, to entire aircraft subsystems and their
support structure, and everything in between. - Design support
needed for interfacing with facility infrastructure, which can
include supplied pressure, heating/cooling, power, hydraulics, and
a full suite of instrumentation, is also part of the design scope
of responsibilities. - Providing support during fabrication, as
well as installation/connection and acceptance/check-out are
required to deliver a ready-for-test setup.The primary focus of
this position is support to the Environmental lab testing needs of
local Boeing Defense & Space (BDS) programs. - Test capabilities
within the Environmental labs include vibrational/structural
dynamics, acoustic, airflow systems, fuel flow systems, high
temperature flow impingement, and environmental control chambers,
where temperature, humidity, and pressure are varied. - At times,
design support to other disciplines of testing may be required to
meet the needs of Boeing programs.Boeing St. Louis is building the

programs such as T7, F-15, F-18, MQ-25, JDAM, SDB, in addition to

for a broad range of experience levels including; Entry-Level and
Associate level Mechanical Design Engineers.Position
Responsibilities:
- Development of mechanical design criteria from customer test
objectives/specifications
- Design and documentation of mechanical systems, components,
test apparatus, and interfaces in support of hardware required to
adapt test articles to required lab & test infrastructure
- Assessment/trade studies of best material selection &
fabrication approaches
- Work statement creation for build-to packages
- Creation of fabrication/machine shop drawings
- Incorporation of instrumentation into mechanical designs
- Analysis of test hardware stress, modal, thermal, and/or fluid
dynamics as needed
- Installation support and direction to lab test personnel
- Mechanical hardware support during hardware inspection,
check-out, and test executionThis position is expected to be 100%
onsite. - The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at
one of the listed location options.Basic Qualifications (Required
Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study
in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing
engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data
science, or computer science
- Experience in Mechanical Systems design
- Experience with a design tool (CAD package) like Siemens NX,
CATIA, etc.Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Level 2: 1 or more years' related work experience or an
equivalent combination of education and experience
- Active U.S. Security Clearance in the past 24 months
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering
- 2+ years' of experience in mechanical/mechanical system
design
- 1+ years' of experience in test and evaluation
- Knowledge of machine shop fabrication capabilities including
conventional & CNC machining, drilling, lathe, fit/finish tools &
processes, and inspection/check-out
- Knowledge/familiarity with additive manufacturing processes &
tools
- 1+ years' experience working with stress analysis/structural
analysis
- Experience using FEA/FEM software performing structural
analysis
- Understanding of material properties and mechanical statics &
dynamics (structural design)
- Understanding of structural dynamics, fluid flow, and
thermodynamics theory & application
