Bodycote HIP, Hot Isostatic Pressure is a sub-division within the
Bodycote Specialist Technologies Division.
The Engineering department designs, manufactures or procures,
commissions and manages equipment for the HIP division in
Europe.
The Head of Engineering position directs and manages all
Engineering and Process Technology projects for the HIP division in
Europe, and is responsible for the preventative maintenance
program, productivity performance and cost optimization of HIP
vessel systems.
Reporting to the VP Operations HIP EU this is a key position in our
engineering function with main goal to make sure we have as close
as possible utilization to 100% as possible with no unexpected
downtime and a strong focus on preventive maintenance.
Main responsibilities:
- Functional lead for site engineering teams, ensuring they are
engaged and effective in delivering engineering priorities and
objectives
- Taking ownership of maintenance of existing plant facilities
and equipment. Evaluate status and replace, or repair equipment
when necessary.
- Responsible for developing, revising and implementing
preventative maintenance programs to ensure that value is driven
from all capital equipment.
- Accountable for the effective use, maintenance and continued
improvement of all Bodycote HIP vessels and supporting
equipment.
- Responsible for Process Technology support and key maintenance
support to all sites
- Working with the wider team to drive continuous improvement
initiatives, share best practices and ensure operating practices
are consistently improved.
- Take the lead on effective and up-to-date training programs,
ensuring these are fit for purpose, delivered effectively and
applied consistently. Ensure training is kept current and
compliant.
- Accountability for all monthly reporting activity ensuring that
the site and division is appropriately represented.
- Comply to EHS (Environment, Health and Safety) policies and
local legal requirements with support from HIP EHS
management.
- Ensure the highest level of internal customer service,
maintaining and improving HIP Engineering standards.
- Take every opportunity to develop and enhance HIP customer
reputation as a specialist supplier of choice.
- Working with key stakeholders and CAPEX PM for Specialist
Technologies to provide support on the investment projects
- Build exceptional relationships with internal and external
customers
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in the development, design, and
management of special machinery or equipment preferably in a Heat
Treatment and/or pressure vessel environment
- Strong background in hands-on engineering management
- Ability to understand technical drawings
- Experience in installing and maintaining production/process
equipment in a metals environment
- Mechanical Engineer degree from University (BSc, MSc or
equivalent).
- Extensive Project management experience with highly complex
engineering projects
- Experienced in managing teams including specifically driving
performance
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Being able to work independently with a strong sense of
responsibility and commitment.
- Must have a challenge mindset and positive outlook on driving
change
- A strong technician but also solid leadership skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in
English
- Ability to travel as required with approx. 30% time of European
travel
