Major Responsibilities

• Obtains plumbing, mechanical, and related data from documents, occupant interviews, and field measurements.
• Responsible for applying engineering fundamental to designs of mechanical systems.
• Perform system sizing calculations, select equipment and write technical specifications.
• Performs engineering calculations using accepted methods and computer software.
• Development of detailed bid packages and scopes of work for mechanical contractors.
• Review of mechanical contractor bid packages for accuracy.
• Communication with internal staff, clients, and other consultants/disciplines.
• Coordinates and oversees preparation of floor plans, site plans, and other drawings for complex projects.
• Performs field review of existing facilities to determine and verify relevant services and site layout, and to coordinate construction with plans and specifications.
• Responsible for system design, sizing and layout, and selections of equipment for specific applications.
• Responsible for preparation of cost estimates and in coordination of construction and renovation projects.
• Ability to prepare floor, site, and other mechanical plans using CAD drafting techniques.
• Ability to prepare red-line drawings for CAD Operators.
• Ability to develop a project schedule and manage it to completion.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Responsible for financial success of projects based upon mutually agreed fee structures.
• Other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Business Manager as deemed appropriate.
• Ability to travel up to 20% - 40% depending on duration and location of project work.
  EducationBachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering/Industrial Engineering/Chemical Engineering with a minimum of three years of related design experience. (Directly related experience may be substituted for degree requirement.)
  ---Experience
  • A minimum of three years relevant work experience in an Engineering environment and a comprehensive knowledge of Mechanical, and Plumbing design.
  • A strong understanding of design and documentation principles, practices and standards, an understanding of materials and systems, and a thorough knowledge of Engineering detailing and construction methodology.
  • Experience in manufacturing and packaging environments a plus.
  • Experience with material handling equipment a plus.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD 2005 (or higher).
  • Must be organized, technically competent, have effective oral and written communications, experienced in working in a multi-disciplined environment and interfacing with engineers, designers, and drafters.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be able to effectively communicate with clients as well as sub-contractors.
  • Project management of equipment installations and working with owners and sub-contractors a plus
  • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Microsoft Project proficiency a plus.
