Position Overview RGA Investments is an integral part of RGA's dynamic business and growth strategy. This VP will lead our portfolio strategy and teams and leads on strategic projects. The responsibilities include oversight and management of portfolio strategies supporting the company's liabilities/surplus including strategic and tactical asset allocation, the management and review of our third-party asset managers, and the execution and expansion of the investment platform. This leader works closely with RGA's senior business leaders on the management of their portfolios and investment strategies that advance their new business endeavors. Responsibilities Maintains a sustainable competitive edge and lead on scaling of our global platform requires delivering results now, aligning organizational design to strategy, hiring and developing talent, and a focus on continuous improvement of our capabilities, data, systems, processes, skills, and global business planning.--- Key liaison with business and corporate partners across RGA. Engages in cross functional efforts on strategic business initiatives.--- Sets and oversees strategic direction and day-to-day management of investment strategies.--- Key liaison with our internal and external managers to set and change the asset allocation consistent with our strategy, business development, and other considerations. The leader takes a balanced approach to changes in asset allocation with RGA's best interest at the center of all decisions.--- Oversees the liability driven portfolio construction process and investment strategy execution in support of the corresponding insurance liabilities.--- Collaborate with corporate business partners to maximize product line profitability while minimizing capital, and related insurance risk in dynamic market environments.--- Leverages internal and external contacts, knowledge of investments, derivatives, and ALM to generate relative value recommendations within relevant investment and ALM guidelines. Relationship development and interaction with asset liability management team and has management and oversight responsibility for strategy implementation.--- Coordinate and contributes to development of RGA's annual macro strategy and plan assumptions (includes illiquid asset production, risk budget, new money rates), and ongoing attribution and tracking of results.--- Leads, develops and mentors members of the Global Portfolio Management team while determining processes and resources needed to achieve enterprise goals.--- Ensures high quality materials and represents RGA in investment related communication of portfolio strategies to internal and external parties including C-level management and regulators as CIO of RGA's offshore legal entities.--- Contributes to external manager selection and oversight process (who negotiates contracts and terms with external managers and parties). Develop relationships with strategic partners in public and private markets to develop new and innovative asset strategies in support of business objectives.--- Serves as a primary contact for internal manager, external manager, business segment, and/or legal entity relationships. Responsible for periodic review and signoff of guidelines and compliance rules and performance.--- Key relationships with SVP Head of Investment Solutions and the Investment Solutions (IS) team. Closely collaborates with IS team in the development and approval of new deal investment strategies and capabilities, including operational design, reporting and guidelines.--- Interaction and collaboration across the senior investment leaders and the broad areas of investments is a key aspect of our enhancing our investment strategy and the value our capabilities to RGA. Works with senior leaders across investment solutions, credit, private debt & equity, real estate, operations, risk and compliance to implement and improve best practices, new business investment strategy, tactical portfolio positions and repositioning strategies.--- Suggests, reviews, and informs new tools and frameworks to improve portfolio management and investment process, and engages full team on mindset/contributions.--- Sets the coming year's investment strategy and plans including the oversight of the annual and semi-annual outlook and asset allocation document.--- Tracks performance relative to the investment income plan and make adjustments based on plan results and economic conditions. Requirements EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Required:--- MBA graduate and 10+ years relevant work experience OR Bachelor's degree in Economics/Finance related field with 15+ years relevant work experience CFA Designation Preferred: --- Masters, ASA, FSA, or CAIA--- 5+ years of insurance credit investing including experience allocating and investing in public corporate bonds, structured securities, private assets, and private equity investments--- 5+ years of working with cross functional teams considering multiple factors and business objectives--- 5+ years fixed income management experience in an insurance client environment SKILLS AND ABILITIES Required:--- Highly advanced Microsoft Office skills--- Highly advanced Excel skills--- Expert oral and written communication skills demonstrating ability to share and impart knowledge--- Expert understanding of investment/market concepts--- Highly advanced knowledge of asset liability management--- Expert knowledge of portfolio and fixed income analytics (i.e. sector weightings, portfolio duration, performance attribution, convexity and term structure of interest rates)--- Investigative, analytical and problem-solving skills--- Ability to set goals and handle multiple tasks, clients, and projects simultaneously; Ability to appropriately balance priorities, deadlines, and deliverables--- Demonstrated ability to work well within a team environment and participate in department/team projects--- Ability to balance detail with departmental goals/objectives--- Highly advanced negotiation skills to assist with internal/external discussions--- Proven ability to translate business needs and problems into viable/accepted solutions--- Expert customer relationship management and change management skills--- Ability to manage multiple projects or teams and set applicable goals--- Expert negotiation and persuasion skills--- Ability to liaise with individuals across a wide variety of operational, functional, and technical disciplines--- Advanced presentation skills to advance strategy discussions--- Demonstrated ability to lead, develop and manage portfolio managers and/or analysts Preferred: --- Demonstrable track record of the successful implementation of Investment/portfolio strategies Company Overview Reinsurance Group of America, Incorporated (NYSE: RGA) is one of the largest global providers of life reinsurance, with offices around the world.
